"A proud weather geek" - Davis Instruments Corp.
Building on a solid childhood interest in weather, Ryan Hoke is pursing his dream by earning a degree in broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University. Starting out with a TV-shaped cardboard box at age five, Ryan began to explore the field of meteorology and cultivate his knowledge in weather. After watching countless weather broadcasts on local TV stations and reading a great deal of weather-related books and magazines as an elementary and middle school student, he finally saw his shot at getting experience with weather broadcasting.
In January 2007, Ryan's Louisville, Kentucky weather website was launched, called Ryan Weather. Until July 2009 he produced and uploaded a forecast video every Saturday for the site. During the site's tenure Ryan delivered a weather forecast on live TV, won awards from both WAVE 3 TV and The Weather Channel, and accepted a summer job with Storm Chasing Adventure Tours. As a Distinguished Scholar at Mississippi State, he hopes to use his headstart in meteorology to bring innovation to the field both in and out of college. In September 2010, Ryan accepted a position with WBBJ-TV 7 in Jackson, Tennessee where he is an on-air weather forecaster for WBBJ 7's new Good Morning West Tennessee Saturday newscast.
